12 Palestinians killed by Israeli fire in Gaza border clashes

Twelve Palestinians were killed in Israeli fire on the Gaza border today as mass protests erupted against the transfer of the US embassy to Jerusalem.

The Gazan Health Ministry said, 12 persons were killed after major clashes broke out across the border between Israeli snipers and stone-throwing Palestinians, seeking to damage the fence. Thousands of others were protesting near the border.

Meanwhile, celebrations are being held in Israel ahead of shifting of the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

Donald Trump’s daughter Ivanka and her husband Jared Kushner, are among those present in the country for the occasion. Both of them serve as advisers to the US President.

The pair will attend an official opening ceremony of the embassy today. Most European Union ambassadors are expected to boycott the event.

US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, who is among the US delegation, has described the embassy’s move as a sign of the enduring friendship and partnership between US and Israel.
