At least 18 killed as two coal mines collapsed in Pakistan

In Pakistan, at least 18 people were killed as two coal mines collapsed in southwestern Baluchistan province. According to the officials, a mine in Marwar area near provincial capital Quetta collapsed due to gas explosion and about two dozen miners were trapped inside.

Deputy Commissioner Quetta Farrukh Atique told news agency PTI that that 16 people have died in the collapse. Mr Atique said that they have rescued six workers who were trapped in the rubble.

In another incident, at least nine miners were trapped in a mine of Pakistan Mineral Development Corporation near Quetta. According to an official, rescue workers recovered two dead bodies and two injured miners.
