US President Donald Trump has asked for reforms in international financial institutions, including the World Trade Organization to ensure a fair and reciprocal trading relationship with friends and partners. He was speaking to reporters at a joint White press conference with the visiting German Chancellor Angela Merkel at the White House.

Trump said, the US has a trade deficit in goods with the European Union of nearly 151 billion dollar a year, including a 50 billion annual trade deficit in autos and auto parts.

The US President said, he was committed to work with Merkel to reduce barriers for US exports to deepen economic ties between the two countries. Ms Merkel said, Germany wants close relations on trade with European Union as well as United States.

She said, Germany wants fair trade and a trade that is in line with the multilateral trading system of the WTO.
