New Delhi: A Russian military plane on Sunday disappeared from radar screen near Sochi.
The ministry said that there were 83 passengers and 8 crew members on board, and that search and rescue groups had been dispatched to locate the missing Tupolev Tu-154 airliner.
The plane was heading to Latakia in Syria.
The plane lost contact with ATC after departing from Sochi. More details awaited.
