Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday, December 30, launched a new e-wallet app, BHIM, named after founding father Dr BR Ambedkar, to make digital transactions easier online. The Aadhaar-based mobile payment application will allow people to make digital payments directly from their bank accounts.

Despite users facing a few issues, the app has managed to garner over two million downloads in a very short time. Former Aadhaar chairman Nandan Nilekani took to Twitter to express his happiness about the app’s debut.
