WATCH: Rahul Dravid’s animated celebration as Amit Mishra seals thrilling win for Delhi Daredevils with unbelievable stroke

New Delhi: Delhi Daredevils (DD) might not have the best of Indian Premier League (IPL) campaign, but the franchise has entertained the fans by pulling off some superb chases this season. In their match against Gujarat Lions on Wednesday, the Zaheer Khan-led side chased down a formidable 195-run target.

The match saw a thrilling finish as it all came down to the final over, where Delhi needed nine runs to win off the final six balls. All eyes were on Shreyas Iyer, who was batting on 96. After running two byes off the first ball bowled by Basil Thampi, Iyer was bowled off the next ball.

Amit Mishra was the new batsman at the crease with Delhi still needing seven runs to win off the final four balls.

Mishra charged down the wicket off the third ball, converted it into a full-toss and smashed it past midwicket for a boundary.

Thampi followed it with a slower full-toss, Mishra played a premeditated shot past fine leg for the winning runs. While Mishra had to wait for the ball to come on to him since it was bowled pretty slow, he didn’t buckle under pressure and guided his team to a thrilling finish.

Put in to bat, Gujarat found themselves reeling at 56/3 before Karthik and Finch began the recovery sensibly, taking the odd singles and helping the bad balls to the boundary as the run rate dropped a bit midway into the innings.

Delhi found it tough to break the partnership with both the right-handers stepping up the gas to race to 148/3 by the 16th over, before West Indian Brathwaite managed to pack the Tamil Nadu-born stumper, who had faced 28 balls by then and struck four fours and a six.
