IPL 2017: Rising Pune Supergiant skipper Steve Smith off to Dubai for short break ahead of match vs Sunrisers Hyderabad

New Delhi: In what could come as a shock for several Rising Pune Supergiant’s fans, skipper Steve Smith has decided to take a 6-day tour of Dubai with his wife and baby amidst the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017.

Smith, who replaced Mahendra Singh Dhoni as the captain ahead of the new season, is off to Dubai for a short break.

The Australian skipper took to Twitter to confirm the news.

“Ducked off to Dubai for a couple of days in my 6 day break and discovered some magnificent Acai bowls.” he tweeted.

Smith-led RPS are in dire straits in the tenth edition where they are languishing at seventh position in the points table after just two wins from five matches.

Despite boasting of some world class players in Ajinkya Rahane, Faf du Plessis, MS Dhoni and Smith himself, Pune are struggling for momentum in what is their second IPL season.

Pune’s two wins have come against Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore.

They will now take on defending champions Sunrisers Hyderabad at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune on April 22.
