Steve Smith very understanding and approachable as captain, says RPS opener Mayank Agarwal

New Delhi: Steve Smith has been the most talked about name in IPL 10 ever since he replaced MS Dhoni as Rising Pune Supergiant skipper ahead of the start of new season.

Smith, who scored a match-winning 54-ball 84 against Mumbai Indians to begin his IPL captaincy stint in a magnificent way, lost the second encounter against Kings XI Punjab and missed out on the third match against Delhi Daredevils – which ended in a humiliating 97-run defeat for the team – with upset stomach.

Talking about Smith’s captain, RPS opener Mayank Agarwal only had good things to say.

“He is very understanding and approachable as a captain. We go up to him if we have a suggestion and he listens to it. He brings intensity on the field. He has got a lot of experience and that helps us,” Agarwal was quoted saying by Hindustan Times.

Agarwal also spoke about the value MS Dhoni brings to tbe Pune dressing room.

“He (Dhoni) is always inspirational. He is very nice to have in the dressing room. We get to learn a lot from him as youngsters,” Agarwal said.

Chasing Delhi Daredevils’ gigantic target of 206 runs in Match 9 of IPL 2017, Pune’s innings fell apart within the first 10 overs as they were reeling at 54 for five. Eventually, the hosts were bowled out for a paltry 108 at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium.
