WATCH: Chris Morris sets IPL ablaze with blistering 9-ball 38 against Rising Pune Supergiant

New Delhi: Sanju Samson was unarguably Delhi Daredevils’ chief architect in the team’s 97-run victory over Rising Pune Supergiant but without Chris Morris’ 9-ball 38, the visitors would not have reached 205-run total.

Morris blazed his way to 38 off a mere nine balls, helping the visitors amassed 45 runs in the last two overs of the innings with a flurry of sixes and fours.

While Samson struck eight boundaries and five sixes, Morris found the fence four times and cleared it thrice during his cameo.

In the last four overs, DD amassed as many as 76 runs with Morris doing most of the damage. He scored two fours and two sixes off the final over bowled by Ben Stokes, leaving the most expensive IPL signing fuming.

In reply to Delhi’s strong performance, Pune’s innings fell apart within the first 10 overs as they were reeling at 54 for five. Eventually, the hosts were bowled out for a paltry 108 at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium.

The total proved way beyond Pune as they lost wickets at regular intervals for their second defeat in the tournament, while Delhi opened their account.

Delhi skipper Zaheer Khan picked up 3/20, while leg- spinner Amit Mishra had 3/11.
