New Delhi: Soon after three explosions rocked Dortmund`s team bus ahead of a Champions League game against Monaco, police have found a letter claiming responsibility for the attack. The police however has refused to divulge further details until they confirm its authenticity.
Local prosecutors revealed that a letter has been found close to the site of the blasts, which struck shortly after the team bus drove off from the squad`s hotel.
“Its authenticity is being verified,” prosecutor Sandra Luecke told journalists, without giving details on its contents.
The German police also said that they believe the three explosions that rocked Dortmund`s team bus ahead of a Champions League game were directly targeted at the club.
“We are assuming that they were a targeted attack against the Dortmund team,” said Dortmund city`s police chief Gregor Lange.
The Borussia Dortmund team bus was damaged and defender Marc Bartra got injured after three explosions went off near the vehicle on the way to Tuesday`s Champions League home game against Monaco.
“The bus set off” from the team`s hotel to the stadium when “three explosive charges have detonated,” said a spokesman, Gunnar Wortmann.
Spanish defender Marc Bartra, who was rushed to the hospital after getting injured, underwent wrist surgery on Tuesday.
Dortmund`s press spokesman confirmed the 26-year-old Bartra needed an operation on his right wrist. Other Dortmund players were said to be “shocked” but safe after the attack.
BVB confirmed on their Twitter account that the match has been postponed to Wednesday.
