UCL clash between Borussia Dortmund, AS Monaco postponed following explosion near team bus; defender Marc Bartra injured

New Delhi: The Borussia Dortmund team bus was damaged and defender Marc Bartra got injured after three explosions went off near the vehicle on the way to Tuesday`s Champions League home game against Monaco, police confirmed.

“The bus set off” from the team`s hotel to the stadium when “three explosive charges have detonated,” said a spokesman, Gunnar Wortmann.

German daily Bild report Spanish defender Marc Bartra has been injured and taken to hospital.

BVB confirmed on their Twitter account that the match has been postponed to Wednesday.

Earlier, BVB had that: “A bomb exploded at the team bus next to the hotel.

“The players are safe. There is no danger at the stadium.”

Dortmund police also said that windows were broken and one person had been injured.

Spanish media are reporting that Bartra’s injury is not too serious: “a superficial arm injury”.

The explosion reprotedly took place just over six miles from the Dortmund stadium and the damage was mainly to windows. The cause of the explosions are unknown.
