Sakshi Malik, Olympic medalist, gets married to wrestler Satyawart Kadian

Sakshi Malik, who created history by becoming the first female wrestler to win an Olympic bronze medal, got married to Satyawart Kadian in Rohtak on Sunday.

Sakshi had secured bronze in the 58 kg category during the 2016 Rio Olympics. After losing in the early round, Sakshi entered the repechage round and she pulled off a come-from-behind victory in the bronze medal play-off to create history.

The wedding ceremony took place in Rohtak and was attended by many, including Sushil Kumar, who had won medals in wrestling during the 2008 Beijing and 2012 London Olympics.

Satyawart Kadian is also a wrestler who won the bronze medal in the 2010 Youth Olympics. After having won bronze in the junior world championships, Kadian’s crowning moment was when he clinched silver in the 2014 Commonwealth games in Glasgow. It was reported that he met Sakshi at the event.

Celebrities took to Twitter to wish the couple on this occasion. Virender Sehwag, Vijender Singh and Dipa Karamakar all wished the couple
