Ind vs Aus: Taking Virat Kohli's wicket was indeed exceptional, says Nathan Lyon

The Indian captain has come for praise again, with Aussie off-spinner Nathan Lyon on Saturday claiming Virat Kholi as world’s best batsman he has ever bowled to and that taking his wicket was indeed a special moment for him.

“Virat is one of the best batsmen in the world that I have ever bowled to and thus taking his wicket was indeed something special,” claimed Aussie off spinner Nathan Lyon after his scintillating performance of 8/50 in M Chinnaswamy stadium on day one of the second Test against India.

It was an exciting day for the Aussies, who went with much fear that the home side could comeback strong. But what started off on a rather good note immediately crumbled to a mere total of just 189.

Offie Nathan Lyon scripted history when he single handedly dismantled eight Indian batsmen to claim his career-best Test figure. In fact on claimimg his fourth wicket of the day, Ravichandran Ashwin, the GOAT went past former Australian pacer Brett Lee to take most number of wickets against India (58). However, it was taking the skipper’s wicket that made his day.

“The ball was nothing special. I knew that I was going against some of the best in the world and Virat is off course the best I have seen. Thus taking his wicket today was exceptional,” said the 29-year-old off spinner in a post-match interview.

It was the 34th over of their innings. Lyon was into the attack. India was trying to bounce back after Cheteshwar Pujara’s wicket while captain Virat Kohli was striving to settle in after smashing his favourite cover drive for a boundary. Lyon flattened his spell which deluded the skipper into believeing theat the ball would turn more. It hit his pad, right between middle and leg stump and the umpire didn’t hesitate to raise his finger.

“It is a massive series, a long one and we do expect him to bounce back,” said Nathan as he continued, “And speaking the words of Dale Steyn, he is the head of the snake. So, striking it off would mean that the body would fall away.”
