PSL: Kieron Pollard stinger bleeds Shahid Afridi; injured Pakistan legend settles with video message — WATCH

New Delhi: Some shots are never meant to be hit. Unluckiy for Shahid Afridi, despite playing international cricket for ages, he was forced to learn it hard way.

On Friday, a stinger from Kieron Pollard left him bleeding. It happened during the Karachi Kings’ innings of the third qualifying final of the 2017 Pakistan Super League.

While chasing Peshwar Zalmi’s 181, Kings were reduced to 35 for 4 inside the ninth over. But Pollard and his West Indies team-mate Chris Gayle took on Zalmi bowlers to keep Kings’s chances alive.

Darren Sammy started the 11th over with a full ball to Pollard. The Kings batsman hit it towards cover with such ferocious power that it bore through Afridi’s webbing.

Zalmi won the match by 24 runs to set up a final date with Quetta Gladiators, but Afridi will not be playing. He later shared an emotional video to their fans.

“Pakistan Super League was a big challenge for me after the T20 Worldcup as I think I was not able to give performances expected by my fans,” he said. “I really wanted to play PSL final in Lahore. But there are certain things which are not in my power.”
