Gurmehar Kaur row: Babita Phogat, Geeta Phogat hit out at Kamaal Rashid Khan in Twitter Dangal

New Delhi: Ace Indian wrestlers Babita Phogat and Geeta Phogat have backed Virender Sehwag’s tweet, which went viral for being a sly tweet towards Delhi University student Gurmehar Kaur.

While the Phogat sisters expressed their opinions, a new controversy triggered after noted Bollywood writer Javed Akhtar called Yogeshwar Dutt ‘a hardly literate’ wrestler on Twitter.

On Tuesday, as Babita continued to express her disappointment over Gurmehar’s tweet, self-proclaimed film critic Kamal Rashid Khan aka KRK also entered the debate.

Taking a dig at Babita, KRK tweeted, “Ye Lo ji @BabitaPhogat Jisko Theek Se Bolnaa Tak Nahi Aata, Usko Bhi Pata Chal Gaya Ki #GurmeharKaur is speaking against the nation. Lol!”

Here’s how Babita replied to KRK’s tweet:

पढ़ लिख कर गद्दारी करने से अच्छा है अनपढ़ रहकर देशभक्त बने और देश के लिए खेलकर देश का नाम रोशन करे… ek bar bolo #hindustanjindabad# https://t.co/Ztc6Mhww52

KRK further hit back at Babita’s tweet with two more posts.

Ms @BabitaPhogat when Aamir khan wanted to leav India then he was best person for u but a Shaheed’s daughter is Deshdrohi if she wants peace

— KRK (@kamaalrkhan) February 28, 2017

आजकल फर्जी देशभक्ति दिखाकर सरकारी तलवे चाटने की होड़ सी मची हुई है! फिर वो चाहे दो कौड़ी के निर्देशक हो, हीरो हो, या कोई और खिलाड़ी हो!

— KRK (@kamaalrkhan) February 28, 2017

While Babita chose to ignore KRK, her sister Geeta gave yet another befitting reply:

@kamaalrkhan जिनको आप दो कौड़ी का खिलाड़ी बोल रहे हो ना उन्होने देश को मेडल और सम्मान दिलाया है।आपने देश के आपमान के अलावा कुछ किया है?https://t.co/pDx8qxRUGA

Gurmehar, who is the daughter of martyr Captain Mandeep Singh, took the Internet by storm when she posted a video in May last year where held a placard that read, “Pakistan did not kill my dad, war killed him.”

Sehwag, who now has close to nine million followers on Twitter, recently posted a photograph holding a placard that read, “I didn’t score two triple centuries, my bat did”.

Unlike his funny tweets, this one created a ruckus across the country with several communities hitting out at the Delhi-born cricketer.

Kaur, who got death and rape threats after her campaign against the ABVP, has been provided adequate security by police.

A day after the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) wrote to Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik over the threats to Kaur, the police slapped a First Information Report.

On Monday, DCW forwarded a complaint of the Lady Shri Ram College student regarding the online abuse. The Deputy Commissioner of Police of the area then spoke to her and provided necessary security, the police said.
