Watch Video: When Umesh Yadav got Matthew Wade caught behind twice in same over

New Delhi: Australian batsman Matthew Wade was handed a lifeline in 66th over after the on-field umpire failed to notice that the ball had nicked toe end of his bat and decided to turn down Umesh Yadav’s appeal for caught behind.

While TV reviews suggested that there was in fact an edge on the delivery, with no DRS reviews left, Indian captain Virat Kohli couldn’t challenge the decision and had to move on.

Wade, however, couldn’t make the most of the lifeline handed to him and was given out caught behind in the last delivery of the same over. (IND vs AUS, 1st Test, Day 3 – Scorecard | Live Blog)

The ball was pitched full and wide outside off, Wade couldn’t prevent himself from leaning into a drive before seeing the ball kiss the bat’s outside edge and taken cleanly by wicket-keeper Wriddhiman Saha.

Here’s the video of the incident:-

India later wrapped up Australia in an extended first session but the Australians will sit confident of having put a target of 441 runs on board for the Indian batsmen to chase. Jadeja was particularly exceptional in the pre-lunch session, having beaten the batsmen on a number of occasions but was unlucky to not find as many edges as he deserved.
