IPL 2017 Auction LIVE: Ben Stokes goes to Rising Pune Supergiants for whooping Rs 14.5 crore

New Delhi: Live updates from the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction 2017 where eight franchises will get into a bidding war to sign some of the biggest names in world cricket. English all-rounder Ben Stokes has already hogged limelight as he was bought by Rising Pune Supergiants for Rs 14.5 crore.

10: 54 am – Chris Jordan (base price Rs 50l) goes unsold.


09: 54 am – Sean Abbott (base price Rs 30l) goes unsold.


09: 54 am – Corey Anderson (base price Rs 1cr), goes to DD at base price.


09: 54 am – Ben Stokes (base price Rs 2cr), is here! RCB, MI all got into a bidding war immediately. DD also extended the bidding process, were bidding with Mumbai Indians. The bid reached at Rs 10.5 crore with DD. Mumbai pulled out after which SRH came with a 11 crore bid. SRH extended the bid to Rs 13 crore. RPS entered the bidding with a new bid of Rs 13.5 cr. SRH pulled out, RPS continued at 14. 5 CRORE. And they got him!


09: 53 am – Irfan Pathan (base price Rs 50l), goes unsold.


09: 51 am – Angelo Mathews (base price Rs 2 cr), goes to Delhi Daredevils for the base price.


09: 46 am – Pawan Negi (base price Rs 30 l). After some delay, RPS made the first bid. Few franchises got involved. RCB and Gujarat Lions got into a bidding war which was won by RCB for Rs 1 crore.

09: 44 am – Saurabh Tiary (base price Rs 30 l) goes unsold.


09: 44 am – Ross Taylor (base price Rs 50 l) goes unsold. 


09: 42 am – Alex Hales (base price Rs 1 cr) goes unsold.


09: 41 am – Faiz Fazal (base price Rs 30 l) goes unsold.


09: 40 am – Jason Roy (base price Rs 1 cr) goes unsold.


09: 39 am – Eoin Morgan goes to Kings XI Punjab for Rs 2 crore.


09: 37 am – Martin Guptill is the first player up for auction. With base price of Rs 50 lakh, he goes unsold.


09: 35 am – The process begins as Richard Madley begins the proceedings.


09: 25 am – Jayawardene, Tom Moody, VVS Laxman, Simon Katich, Diana Edulji have all arrived for the bidding


09: 10 am – It will be interesting to see the approach of Mahela Jayawardene, who recently replaced Ricky Ponting as the coach of Mumbai Indians.


08: 55 am – As a result of the injury to Andre Russell, Kolkata Knight Riders might be keen on signing either Ben Stokes or Chris Woakes.


08: 46 am – There has been plenty of action already ahead of the auction. While MS Dhoni was replaced as Rising Pune Supergiants skipper by Steve Smith, quality speedster Mitchell Starc pulled out of the tournament, which was a huge blow for Royal Challengers Bangalore.


08: 46 am – The franchise owners will be keen to sign some quality pacers. The value of of Tymal Mills, Trent Boult and Pat Cummins has increased significantly after Mitchell Starc pulled out of the Indian Premier League.

  • Gujarat Lions – Rs 14.35 crore
  • Royal Challengers Bangalore – Rs 12.825 crore
  • Mumbai Indians – Rs 11.555 crore

With a base price of Rs. 2 crores, Ben Stokes along Angelo Mathews, Chris Woakes, Eoin Morgan, Ishant Sharma, Mitchell Johnson and Pat Cummins will be the hottest properties in which franchises will be looking to invest.
