Hashim Amla becomes the 10,000th LBW victim in Test cricket

New Delhi: South African batsman Hashim Amla is known as one of the most versatile batsman and also holds several records under his belt to support the statement.

But on Wednesday, he unwillingly became part of an unwanted history when he was trapped in front during third day’s play of Port Elizabeth Test against Sri Lanka.

He will now be known as the 10,000th victim of Leg Before Wicket (LBW) in Test cricket.

Amla, batting on 48 runs, was dismissed by Sri Lanka’s Nuwan Pradeep off the last ball of the 50.6 over, who trapped him in front of the wicket. Lankan’s appealed and umpire ruled the decision in favour of them.

This is the 10,000 instance in the Test cricket that a batsman got out by LBW.

When it comes to highest number of LBW dismissals, India’s batting legend Sachin Tendulkar hold the record for most number of times a batsman got out LBW. Sachin was out 63 times in this fashion.

And, the bowler who got most number of LBW wickets is Anil Kumble (156), which 6 more than his great rivals Muttiah Muralitharan and 18 more than Shane Warne.

Kumble is also the third highest wicket taker in Test Cricket after Murlitharan and Warne.
