List of records broken in India’s win over Australia in Adelaide Test

India held their nerve towards the end to beat Australia by 31 runs on the fifth day of the opening Test at the Adelaide Oval on Monday and take a 1-0 lead in the ongoing four-match series.

Resuming on Sunday’s score of 104 for four in their chase of 323 runs, Australia were bowled out for 291 runs in their second innings despite a strong fight back by Shaun Marsh (60) and skipper Tim Paine (41).

Mohammed Shami was the pick of the Indian bowlers for his brilliant figures of three for 65, followed by Jasprit Bumrah’s three for 68. Ashwin also contributed with three wickets conceding 92 runs, while Ishant Sharma chipped in with a wicket.

The match was all the more memorable as there are a few records which were broken. These are as follows:

The Virat Kohli-led side ended India’s 10-year-long wait for a Test win Down Under as the Asian giants last won in Australia under Anil Kumble at Perth in 2008.Meanwhile, the victory also saw India clinch the opening Test of a series in Australia for the very first time. The tourists also became the first team to win a Test match in Australia, England and South Africa in the same calendar year.
