Josh Hazlewood terms spinner Nathan Lyon as the key man against India

Australian fast-bowler Josh Hazlewood has termed spinner Nathan Lyon as the man to watch out for in the home side’s bowling attack ahead of the first Test against India at Adelaide.

“He’s the key for me,” said the 27-year-old.

Hazlewood further referred to a Sheffield Shield clash against Queensland where Lyon enjoyed great success.

“It worked in the Shield game (against Queensland two weeks ago). Nath bowled pretty much from one end after the new ball and we filtered through from the other end.”

“You hardly hit a run off him and he takes wickets.”

On a concluding note, the bowler also indicated the importance of Lyon’s presence in helping the bowling attack perform at full potential.

“It’s pretty key to have him the other end. He makes that group what it is,” he added.

Lyon has picked 139 Test wickets at home despite bowling on pitches and conditions favourable to fast bowlers.

He also enjoys an ability to bowl spells consistently at a tireless pace, which helps the fast bowlers rotate through at the other end, making it all the intimidating for the opposition.

The 31-year-old will be looking to make his presence felt in a critical four-match Test series against India with the first clash all set to take place on 6 December.
