Wimbledon 2018 final: Novak Djokovic vs Kevin Anderson – As it happened

London: Currently ranked 21, Novak Djokovic faces Kevin Anderson in the Wimbledon final at All England Club, London. Former number one player Djokovic beat Spain’s Rafael Nadal on Saturday to enter Wimbledon final. South Africa’s Kevin Anderson, currently World’s number 8, is making his first appearance in Wimbledon’s last round after he beat John Isner on Friday.

# Djokovic wins the Wimbledon match!!

Anderson wins the third set. The third set sees Anderson moving slowly and making a comeback with a strategy of one point at a time. Though Djokovic tries to maintain his position by keeping a 2-2 during the game but Anderson take a lead with 3-2. Djokovic, however, tries to break it up with deuce and rallies to bring the game back at 4-4 but Anderson wins it 5-4. Djokovic and Anderson both make it difficult for each other with Anderson leading 6-5 during the match and Djokovic bringing it back to 6-6 for a tie-breaker. Leading with 5-1 Djokovic beats Anderson in the tie-breaker during the third set. Djokovic 6-2, 6-2, 7-6 Anderson

Anderson tries to push hard by leading two times during a deuce and secures a hard-earned point. A series of rallies and deuce follows. Djokovic wins the first set against Anderson. Djokovic beat Anderson 6-2 wrapping up the first set in 29 minutes. Nine unforced errors by Anderson helped Djokovic take the lead.

Djokovic leads over Anderson in the first set with 2-0.

Djokovic has beaten Anderson in five of their six encounters and hence, the latter will push hard to win his first title. 

If he wins, this will be Anderson’s first Slam Title after he lost to Rafael Nadal in the 2017 US Open final. The pressure builds on Anderson.

Eight seed Anderson took six hours and 36 minutes to beat John Isner while 12th seed Djokovic stretched his match with Nadal for 5 hours and 15 minutes. 

Djokovic was former No. 1 in ATP rankings for 223 weeks and this will be his 13th Grand Slam title if he wins.
