Dipa Karmakar, the first Indian female gymnast to take part in the Olympics, will be honoured with a D Lit degree at the 10th convocation of the National Institute of Technology, Agartala on November 11, 2017.

The convocation will be organized at the Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhawan in Agartala.

When contacted, Dipa’s father Dulal Karmakar said that although they didn’t receive any official confirmation, he is happy with the NIT’s decision.

“Every parent would be happy with their children’s success. Dipa made us feel proud of her,” Karmakar said.

Dipa Karmakar, who was recently undergoing rehabilitation for a leg injury, will arrive in Agartala on November 1.
