Ranji Trophy final, Gujarat vs Mumbai, day 4 live cricket score: Guj 40/0

Mumbai batsmen were all out for 411 on Day 4 of the Ranji Trophy final at Holkar Stadium in Indore on Friday. Gujarat began the 312-run chase for victory on a positive note and were 40/0. Earlier, Mumbai skipper Aditya Tare and Abhishek Nayar batted steadily to score half centuries, while Chintan Gaja took six wickets. Mumbai lost Suryakumar Yadav (49) in the morning. On Day 3, Shreyas Iyer finally came back to form as he smashed 82 and helped Mumbai gain a . Gujarat bowlers, in the mean time, were on attack mode in the morning, sticking to a wicket-to-wicket line, eyeing quick wickets to restrict Mumbai’s lead on a pitch that is not becoming easy to bat on. 1:32 pm IST: A direct hit as the two sneak a single in the middle but Abhishek Nayar is safe. Mumbai have added just four runs in the last three overs. 317/6 after 106 overs.

1:22 pm IST: Balwinder Sandhu has started out on an aggressive note. He’s batting on 14 in as many deliveries. Mumbai have reached 313/6 at the end of the 103rd over. Lead by 213.

1:02pm IST: Aditya Tare’s gone! Hardik Patel traps him in front of stumps and it’s a big blow for Mumbai who’ve now been reduced to 297/6. Tare departs for 69 (114).

12:57 pm IST: Rush Kalaria starts with a maiden after lunch; Mumbai 294/5 after 97 overs.

12:05 pm IST: It’s lunch on Day 4 here at the Holkar Cricket Stadium. Mumbai have reached 294/5 at the end of the 96th over. Aditya Tare’s unbeaten on 68 while Abhishek Nayar is batting on 10. Mumbai lead by 194 runs.

11:53 am IST: The runs have certainly dried up since Siddhesh Lad’s wicket. Just 7 runs, including an outside edge that ran for four, in the last 20 balls. Mumbai 277/5 after 93 overs; lead by 177.

9:50 am IST: Far more attacking start from Gujarat this morning. They’re attacking the stumps and trying to use the morning session to their advantage. Six runs in the last overs. Mumbai 214/3 after 71 overs.

9:35 am IST: RP Singh starts off proceedings on Day 4 with a maiden. Mumbai 208/3; lead by 108 runs. Aditya Tare 13 (24) and Suryakumar Yadav 45 (180) are out there in the middle for Mumbai.

On Day 3, It was a good start for Mumbai earlyas Shardul Thakur removed Chirag Gandhi off the fifth ball of the day. With no runs added to their overnight score, Rush Kalaria and Chintan Gaja then forged a quick-fire partnership of 22 runs before Balwinder Sandhu removed Kalaria in the first over of his morning spell.

The last two Gujarat batsmen could only add 15 more to the total as they folded up on 328.

This is the first time a team has twice taken a first-innings lead against Mumbai in a single edition of the Ranji Trophy in 10 years.

The lead wasn’t a big one, but it created a psychological pressure on Aditya Tare’s boys. However, young sensation Prithvi Shaw ensured the situation didn’t stay that way for long as he blasted 44 off 34 balls. It was a delightful innings laced with eight cracking shots to the fence.
