Armenia and Azerbaijan Take Steps Towards Normalization Amid Border Demarcation

Armenia and Azerbaijan moved closer to normalizing relations as the first border marker was placed, marking progress in their efforts to demarcate boundaries. This development comes after Azerbaijan regained control of the Karabakh province, formerly held by ethnic Armenian forces since the 1990s. However, the agreement involves Armenia ceding some territory, leading to protests in Armenia.
Despite this, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev expressed optimism, stating that the two countries were nearing a common understanding for a peace agreement. The need to define the border quickly was emphasized by Armenia’s Prime Minister to prevent further hostilities.
