Sheejith Krishna, a former teaching faculty member of the Kalakshetra Foundation, was arrested by the Greater Chennai Police on charges of sexual offenses. The arrest followed complaints from two female students who alleged that Krishna had sexually assaulted them between 1995 and 2007.
After a preliminary inquiry based on directions from the Madras High Court, a case was registered against Krishna in February. The charges include rape on the false promise of marriage and other sexual offenses. Krishna, who taught at Kalakshetra for 21 years, was remanded in judicial custody after being arrested by the police.
