‘Slain Karni Sena Chief Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi Was Shot 9 Times’: Post-mortem Report

The cremation is scheduled for Friday.

On Tuesday, Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi was fatally shot by three attackers in Jaipur.

The postmortem of Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi, the national president of Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena, who was shot dead on Tuesday, was conducted late Wednesday at SMS Hospital in Jaipur. According to the post-mortem report, Sukhdev Gogamedi was hit by 9 bullets and Naveen Shekhawat (one of the perpetrators) by 7 bullets. Reports indicate that his body will be transferred from the hospital to Rajput Sabha Bhawan, where it will be available for supporters to pay their respects until evening.

At 7 PM, a procession will carry the remains from Rajput Sabha Bhawan to Gogamedi village, with floral tributes along the route. Multiple locations between Jaipur and Gogamedi have arrangements for floral tributes and final viewing. The cremation is scheduled for Friday.

On Tuesday (December 5), Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi was fatally shot by three attackers in Jaipur, prompting widespread anger within the Rajput community, resulting in a state-wide shutdown on Wednesday. The Rajasthan Police made a significant breakthrough in the case, identifying the two shooters as Rohit Rathore Makrana and Nitin Fauji.

Nitin Fauji hails from Mahendragarh, Haryana. The third perpetrator, Naveen Shekhawat, was killed during a confrontation at Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi’s residence, where one of his security guards was also injured. Earlier, DGP Umesh Mishra formed a Special Investigation Team and offered a reward of Rs 5 lakh for information leading to the arrest of the suspects.

Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi’s death triggered a political dispute, with the BJP accusing the Ashok Gehlot government of negligence. BJP MP Kirodi Lal Meena asserted that the Karniu Sena chief had sought state security due to threats from criminals, criticising the state government for not providing adequate protection. Meena demanded the arrest of the culprits, expressing disapproval of the political stance taken by the Congress. He emphasised the need for collective efforts to address the situation and called for restraint in political statements.

According to reports, the registration of a case related to the murder of Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi, with the FIR filed under various sections of the IPC at Shyam Nagar police station. Sukhdev’s widow, Sheela Shekhawat Gogamedi, complained, naming outgoing Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, the state DGP, the Punjab Police and the ATS. Allegedly, the family had sought security from Gehlot and the DGP, but it was intentionally denied, she alleged. The FIR includes charges under IPC sections such as 323, 341, 452, 307, 302, 34, 120-B, 427, 16, 18, 20, 3, 25(1-AA) and 27.
