According to NIA investigations, Nossam Mohamad Yunus is a trained member of the PFI and was actively engaged in influencing and radicalizing susceptible Muslim youth.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a supplementary chargesheet against another accused in the Nizamabad Popular Front of India (PFI) case, which pertains to the banned organization’s involvement in a criminal conspiracy to recruit, radicalize, and train young individuals for acts of terror and violence.

The recent chargesheet against Nossam Mohamad Yunus, filed in the NIA Special Court, Hyderabad, brings the total number of accused charged by the anti-terror agency in this case to 17. Nossam Mohammad Yunus faces charges under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967.

According to NIA investigations, Nossam Mohamad Yunus is a trained member of the PFI and was actively engaged in influencing and radicalizing susceptible Muslim youth. His objective was to incite violent terrorist actions as part of the PFI’s scheme to establish an Islamic rule in India by 2047.

The NIA discovered that the accused was involved in recruiting vulnerable youth and providing them with weapons training in clandestine PFI Weapons Training Camps specifically organized for this purpose.

He trained them in the use of lethal weapons, instructing them to target vital body parts such as the throat, stomach, head, among others. Additionally, he was found to be actively propagating animosity between various religious groups within the country.

The initial criminal conspiracy case was registered as FIR No. 141/2022 by the VI Town police in Nizamabad district, Telangana, in July 2022. The NIA assumed control of the investigation from the Telangana Police in August 2022, subsequently filing its first chargesheet against 11 accused in December 2022, and a second chargesheet against 5 accused in March 2023.

The NIA has been investigating the anti-India activities of the PFI and its numerous affiliates, which were designated as an ‘unlawful association’ by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, in September 2022. The ban on the PFI and its affiliates came after various state police units and national agencies exposed their involvement in violent activities across multiple regions in the country.
