Uttarkashi Tunnel Rescue Op: Entire country rejoiced the moment workers started coming out of the tunnel on Tuesday, putting an end to the rescue operation
Over four hundred hours, an army of rescuers, exhausting wait, day-and-night operation and hopes of millions moved a mountain to rescue the 41 workers who were trapped inside Silkyara tunnel in Uttarakhand’s Uttarkashi after a part of it collapsed on November 12.
The workers, stranded inside since 17 days, were pulled out from the tunnel on Tuesday after a mammoth rescue operation that saw many turn of events and involved multiple agencies and experts.
Entire country rejoiced the moment workers started coming out of the tunnel on Tuesday, putting an end to the rescue operation in which “rat-hole miners” came to the rescue at the end after heavy machinery broke down.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauded the successful rescue operation, asserting that everyone involved in the mission has created an amazing example of humanity and teamwork. PM Modi also had a long telephonic conversation with the rescued construction workers and enquired about their well-being.
The prime minister on Tuesday said the multi-agency rescue exercise has made everyone emotional. In a post on X soon after the workers were brought out of the Silkyara tunnel in Uttarkashi, Modi saluted the spirit of those involved in the operation and said their courage and resolve have given a new lease of life to the 41 labourers.
