On November 22, 2023, parts of southern Indian states like Kerala and Tamil Nadu witnessed heavy rainfalls. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted rainy spells throughout the week and due to such unseasonal showers, many schools also declared a holiday.

Heavy downpour was also reported in the following days in Coimbatore and Nilgiris districts with the Noyyal river overflowing. However, amidst all these, people also enjoyed the rains as the shower spells brought the temperatures down. One such video has surfaced online where a child can be seen enjoying the rains in a carefree manner with no worries in his life.

A five-year-old boy named Sathyamithran from the Singanallur locality of Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu can be seen playing in the rain and munching on snacks as he enjoys his time. He leaps with joy on the terrace of his house as he donned a raincoat to prevent himself from getting drenched in the rain. Along with that, he also munched on popcorn happily. He can be seen dancing and strolling on the terrace amidst the potted plants with utmost happiness. His stint will definitely leave you smiling and reminiscing about your childhood and carefree days. He said, “It’s great if you eat popcorn or eat food in the rain.” The video serves as a glimpse of the feelings of all the children whose schools got cancelled and who stayed at home to enjoy the shower spells.

The clip shows some visuals of the road while it is raining and also captures how flowers are blooming. The air quality looks improved especially after the high levels of pollution that were reported a week earlier.

Last week, Tourism Minister K Ramachandran and Nilgiris MP A Raja carried out an inspection in rain-affected areas in Queen Hills where a wall was removed and landslides occurred due to heavy downpours. As per reports, 25 persons have been offered accommodation at temporary shelters as rainwater entered the houses in low-lying areas. Along with temporary shelter, they have also been provided with food and water.
