In a freak incident, a woman allegedly bit her husband’s right ear in a fit of rage in Delhi’s outer district area of Sultanpuri on Sunday, police said. According to the victim, his right ear’s upper portion was mutilated, following which he had to undergo a surgery.

After receiving treatment, the 45-year-old husband filed a complaint against his wife. Police registered an FIR under Indian Penal Code Section 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means) and said that further investigation into the matter is underway.

In his statement to the police, the victim said “I went to throw garbage outside my house around 9.20 am on November 20. I asked my wife to clean the house. Soon after I returned home, my wife started fighting with me over an unknown issue.”

During the argument, he said that his wife also asked him to sell off their house, so that she can take her share and live separately with her children. He added that even though he tried to make her understand, a verbal tiff broke out between the two.

“She even tried to hit me, but I pushed her away. I was walking out of the house when she held me from behind and in a fit of rage bit my right ear so hard that the upper portion of my ear got dismembered. My son took me to Sanjay Gandhi Hospital in Mangolpuri for treatment,” he added. The victim underwent surgery at Rohini’s Jaipur Golden Hospital.

The police received information about the attack from a hospital on November 20, following which they sent a team to probe the matter. A senior police officer said that the victim — unwell at the time — was not in a condition to give a statement. However, he had told them that he himself would come to the police station to give his statement, the official added.

“On November 22, he approached the police and gave a written complaint. We have registered an FIR into the matter and further investigation is in progress,” the senior official added.

Just last week, a 38-year-old woman was arrested for the murder of her husband in Maharashtra’s Pune, after he refused to take her to Dubai for her birthday celebration. The incident occured at the couple’s flat in a posh residential society in Pune’s Wanavdi area on Friday, after the accused punched 36-year-old Nikhil Khanna on the nose during a fight.

Police said that the accused — identified as Renuka — and Nikhil, had a love marriage six years ago.

During initial probe, police found that on Friday afternoon, the couple had a fight because Nikhil did not take Renuka to Dubai on her birthday and did not give her expensive gifts, neither on her birthday nor on their anniversary.

“Renuka was also upset with Nikhil for not giving a favorable response to her wish to go to Delhi to celebrate the birthdays of some relatives,” an official said.

The police registered a case under Indian Penal Code (IPC) Section 303 (punishment for murder) against the accused and arrested her for further investigation.
