Haryana: 1.5-year Old Girl Receives 8 Bite Marks in Dog Attack; Pet Parent Faces Charges

Haryana police has booked a man after his two pet dogs attacked his neighbour’s one-and-a-half-year-old daughter, outside her home in a village in Haryana’s Fatehabad. The incident took place on Wednesday, while the toddler was playing with her brother.

The child sustained critical injuries in the brutal attack after the dogs dragged her to a shed and mauled her, according to a report by India Today.

As per several media reports, the girl was rescued by her uncle after he heard the children’s screams and rushed to the spot. The child was immediately rushed to a private hospital for treatment.

The girl reportedly had eight bite marks on her body.

Following the attack, the child’s father approached the police and lodged a complaint against Surendra, the pet parent.

Police has registered an FIR against Surendra under section 289 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) pertaining to negligence, and placed dogs in quarantine for 15 days.

“The child is currently undergoing treatment, and that she suffered bites in eight places on her body,” Sadar Police Station Investigating Officer Ravinder Kumar said confirming the details of the case, according to the India Today report.

Further investigation is underway.
