Many people, who lost their legs due to accidents or diseases, have benefitted from the prosthetic limbs manufactured by him. Paramasivam hails from Podanur, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu.

About 35 years ago, Paramasivam’s sister’s husband lost one of his legs in an accident. He was thus unable to walk properly and died. It is not clear whether he died in a road accident or due to an infection. Whatever the reason, Paramasivam was mentally affected due to this incident. This prompted him to come up with a solution for this problem that affects other people as well.

He learned the method to develop artificial limbs. A turning point in his career arrived when a prosthetic leg centre was established in RS Puram in 1987. He joined this centre named Free Limb Centre as a prosthetic leg manufacturing technician. He has been helping people live a normal life with the help of artificial limbs for free since that time. Paramasivam also had a word with the News18 portal regarding his profession. He said that he assists the people to walk with the artificial leg. “People come here from states like Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh. Also, I have travelled to various countries and made prosthetic legs for around a thousand people. Leg amputees express joy after getting a prosthetic leg. Then my work gives me great satisfaction,” he added. As seen in a Local 18 Tamil video, Paramasivam has a support staff as well, who assist him in taking care of the people with making artificial limbs.
