The accused, known to be an alcoholic, had a history of demanding money from his wife, leading to frequent conflicts. The 23-year-old victim, who got married in May, endured physical and mental abuse, including threats to her life and eviction due to unpaid rent.
The recent act of pouring acid prompted the wife to file a police complaint. An FIR has been registered against the husband and mother-in-law for dowry harassment and physical assault, and investigations are underway.
