Uttarkashi Tunnel Collapse LIVE: Rescue Officials Clear Air about Condition of Trapped Workers, Say ‘There’s Ample of Space’
The vertical drilling machine has reached the Silkyara tunnel, where work of laying the pipeline inside the tunnel has already begun. In a major breakthrough on Monday in the ongoing rescue operation, officials managed to insert a 57-metre long, 6-inch wide pipe to send larger quantities of solid food and water to the trapped workers. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also spoke with Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Monday to take stock of the rescue efforts.
