Man, 52, Dies After Fight With Neighbours Over Daughter’s ‘Harassment’ At Faridabad Garba Event

A 52-year-old man died after a fight with two neighbours at a garba event in Haryana’s Faridabad on Monday night. The man reportedly had a fight with the neighbours over alleged harassment of his daughter.

The deceased, identified as Prem Mehta, and his family members , were participating in a garba event on the premises of Princess Park society in Sector 87 of Faridabad on Monday night, NDTV reported.

The report said that at the event, two men from the residential complex approached Prem Mehta’s 25-year-old daughter during dandiya dance and asked for her contact number. They also allegedly asked her to dance with them, the report mentioned.

This led to an altercation between the Mehtas and the two men, with the former and his wife and son asking the men why they had approached his daughter. A video, said to be of the incident, has also surfaced, showing the two sides grabbing collars and pushing each other.

During the altercation, the men at one point pushed Mehta after which he fell to the ground and lost consciousness. He was rushed to a hospital, where doctors reportedly declared him brought dead.

A case has been registered following a police complaint by Mehta’s family, the report quoted police officer Jameel Khan as saying. The family has alleged that the two men harassed 52-year-old’s daughter and assaulted him. Khan added that autopsy is being done and police are investigating the matter.

In another shocking incident over garba dance, a 40-year-old man was bludgeoned to death allegedly by the organisers of a ‘garba’ function in Gujarat after he had a spat with them following his 11-year-old daughter’s complaint that she was given one prize despite winning two events, the police said on Wednesday.

The victim, identified as Sarman Odedara, was attacked with sticks and other blunt objects allegedly by seven men around 2 am on Tuesday near Krishna Park Society in Porbandar, said Deputy Superintendent of Police, Rutu Raba.
