Delhi traffic police requested commuters to use Delhi metro services to reach Ramleela venues

Ahead of the Durga Puja and Dussehra celebrations, the Delhi traffic police announced route diversions to ensure smooth and hassle-free vehicular movement across the national capital, especially in Old Delhi’s Red Fort area, which hosts the country’s grandest Ram-Leela event.

According to the traffic advisory, commuters have been asked to avoid routes leading to Red Fort and NS Marg in Old Delhi due to diversions till October 25.

“Given three major Ram Leelas at Madhav Das Park and 15th August Park in front of Red Fort, traffic regulations will be effective, Delhi traffic police said.

The traffic authorities also advised attendees to use general public transport like the Delhi metro, DTC buses, and Taxis among other transport facilities to avoid crowding of vehicles.

Key Route Diversions In Delhi Ahead of Dussehra

  • Traffic advancing to NS Marg from Daryaganj will be diverted towards Nishad Raj Marg in the event of growing traffic congestion on NS Marg.
  • Vehicles going to Red Fort from Chatta Rail will be diverted on the Salimgarh bypass and MGM road.
  • Commercial vehicles and bus diversions will be planned following the above-mentioned points, taking into account the traffic situation in front of Red Fort.

Metro Sevices To Reach Red Fort

Delhi traffic police requested commuters to use Delhi metro services to reach Ramleela venues. To reach the Red Fort, the nearest metro stations are Red Fort and Jama Masjid on the Violet line and Chandni Chowk and Chawri Bazaar on the Yellow line.

General Suggestions for Commuters:

Given the large footfall of attendees, Delhi traffic authorities have urged commuters to plan their journey in advance and advise them to avoid travelling from NS Marg in front of Red Fort and Chandni Chowk during late evening hours if not attending Ram-Leela.

Commuters have also been advised to use app-based taxi services or TSR to select “Chatta Rail” or “Daryaganj” for hassle-free movement of traffic.
