Four killed in Lucknow as car slams into night shelter, cops arrest two

A speeding car rammed into a night shelter in Lucknow’s Dalibagh area on Saturday night, killing four people and injuring as many.

The incident took place around 1.30am when around 80 labourers were sleeping in the night shelter. The deceased were identified as Prithvi Raj, Nanku, Abdul and Gokharan.

The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital. The four who sustained critical injuries were referred to the trauma centre.

Five people were believed to be in the car at the time of the incident. Police arrested two of the accused, and three are on the run, news agency ANI reported.

The person, who was driving the car along with his friends, was in an inebriated state, the report said.

The mishap came after rainfall and fog hit the city, affecting road visibility. Forecast on Saturday said there would more thunder showers with dense fog.
