Shraddha Walkar murder: DNA of bones found in Mehrauli jungle matches with her father

The DNA analysis of the bones found in the Mehrauli jungle belonged to Shraddha Walkar, Aaftab Poonawala’s live-in partner. The Delhi Police had taken the DNA sampled of Walkar’s brother and father days after the murder came to light.

Zee Group reported on November 26 that DNA from the bones matched with that of Walkar’s father.

Walkar was allegedly murdered by her boyfriend Poonawala on May 18, in a rented flat in Delhi’s Mehrauli. He later chopped the body into 35 pieces and stored them in a refrigerator. He disposed of the body one piece at a time all across Delhi and adjoining cities.

The police have been having a difficult time locating the pieces of the body. After several days of interrogation, they had recovered only 13 pieces, including parts of her jaw. They believed Poonwala had been misleading them.
