Civilian injured as militants open fire on jawans’ vehicle in Jammu

A civilian was injured on Saturday morning when militants opened fire on a vehicle carrying security forces in Banihal area of Ramban district.

An unspecified number of suspects opened fire around 5 am on the vehicle, passing through the Kashmir highway. A civilian from Anantnag was injured, said an Intelligence official.

According to ANI, the civilian was in a car that was in front of vehicle targeted.

Army has launched a search operation to track down the suspected.

The attack in Jammu region comes ahead of annual Amarnath Yatra, scheduled to begin on June 29.

The Yatra passes through Banihal to enter Kashmir.
