Shaw hits century on debut as Mumbai storm into Ranji Trophy final

Prithvi Shaw hit a century on debut as Mumbai crushed Tamil Nadu by six wickets to storm into the final of the Ranji Trophy, in Rajkot, on Thursday.

41-time champions Mumbai will take on Gujarat, who outclassed Jharkhand by 123 runs in the other semi-final, in the title clash in Indore, on January 10.

17-year-old Shaw smashed 120 from 175 balls, hitting 13 fours and a six, before he was caught on the leg side off left-arm spinner Aushik Srinivas.

Mumbai, who were set 258 for victory, cruised to 251 for four in 62.1 overs to register a comprehensive victory.

Tamil Nadu, who had conceded the first innings lead of 106 runs, declared their second innings on 356 for six late on Day 4 to give themselves a chance of pushing for an outright victory but in the end their bowlers failed to deliver.
