Factory worker Sarbjeet Singh took the body of his father on a cart from the Jalandhar civil hospital on Thursday.

While the hospital authorities couldn’t help him, he found Rs 400 for a private ambulance beyond his means. His father, Lal Singh, was undergoing treatment after a stroke on May 7, and he died on Thursday, May 11. A friend brought the cycle cart. Medical superintendent Dr Kanwaljit Singh Bawa said the hospital has no ambulance to carry bodies.
