Gujarat lockdown news: Night Curfew extended in 8 cities till September 25 – Check full list of guidelines

Amid the looming fear of the third wave of the coronavirus pandemic, the Gujarat state government, on Tuesday, prolonged the night curfew in the state till September 25. The state government also issued fresh order regarding the same and said that the night curfew will continue in 8 major cities from 11 pm to 6 am till September 25. The current night curfew in the state was supposed to end on September 15. 

The cities in Gujarat where night curfew will continue are Vadodara, Gandhinagar, Surat, and Rajkot, among others. The new order came at a time when Gujarat recorded 12 new cases on Monday with just three of the districts reporting new cases. The total cases in Gujarat now stand at 8,25,629, while no fresh death due to COVID-19 was reported in the state. 

The department said that Surat district reported the highest number of new COVID-19 cases – seven, followed by Vadodara four and Jamnagar one. Ahmedabad, on the other hand, did not report any new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours.

As for India, the country recorded 25,404 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, taking the country’s overall tally to 33,289,579, according to data updated by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. With 339 new cases of people dying due to COVID-19, the death toll has climbed to 4,43,213.

The count of active cases declined to 3,62,207, which comprises 1.09% of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 97.58%, the Health Ministry data showed. A reduction of 12,062 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in 24 hours.
