Having sealed their play-offs spot after a resounding victory in their previous match, Kolkata Knight Riders would be aiming for a top-two finish with a win when they take on an inconsistent Kings XI Punjab in their Indian Premier League match, in Mohali,

The Gautam Gambhir-led side are second in the league table with 16 points from 12 matches with the help of eight wins and they would look to consolidate their position with a win over Punjab, who suffered a six-wicket loss against Gujarat Lions.

Glenn Maxwell-led Punjab, on the other hand, have a slender chance to make it to the play-offs as they have only five wins from 11 matches and are placed at the fifth spot with 10 points. They need to win all their remaining three matches and also hope other results go their way if they have to progress to the play-offs. Howver, it will be easier said than done, as Punjab face formidable Mumbai Indians and Rising Pune Supergiant in their last two games.
