New Delhi: India on Wednesday summoned Pakistan High Commissioner Abdul Basit and demanded action against Pakistani soldiers responsible for killing and mutilation of two Indian soldiers on Monday.
Addressing a press conference Official Spokesperson, Ministry of External Affairs, Gopal Baglay briefed the media about what transpired between Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar and Pakistan High Commissioner Abdul Basit.
Jaishankar conveyed India’s outrage at the killing and the “barbaric act” of mutilation of the two bodies of two Indian soldiers on May 01, 2017 by Pakistani Army personnel, the MEA said.
Giving details about the meet, the MEA spokesperson said our foreign secretary categorically told Basit that the attack was preceded by covering fire from Pakistani posts in Battal sector.
Baglay said blood sample of Indian soldiers that have been collected and the trail of blood on Roza Nala clearly shows that the killers returned across the Line of Control.
Jaishankar demanded that Pakistan take immediate action against its soldiers and commanders responsible for the heinous act.
However, Baglay confirmed that Basit denied any involvement of Pakistani Army in the barbaric act, but assured that he would inform the Pakistani administration about the India’s concerns.
Army’s Naib Subedar Paramjeet Singh and the BSF’s Head Constable Prem Sagar were killed in the unprovoked firing from the Pakistan side as they were patrolling the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir. Their bodies were mutilated by Pakistan’s Border Action Team (BAT), which had targetted the Indian patrol party in Krishna Ghati sector of Poonch district.
