After Maharashtra, now the Rajasthan government has imposed Section 144 in Jodhpur till March 21 due to a rise in the number of COVID-19 cases. The government has made it mandatory to allow no more than 100 people to attend weddings and public gatherings. According to an order issued by the police, only essential services, schools and colleges have been allowed to function. Jodhpur has recorded a total of 457 cases and 9 COVID-19 related deaths till now.
Rajasthan has till now witnessed 3,19,626 coronavirus cases and 2785 COVID-19 related deaths. In the last 24 hours, Rajasthan has recorded 83 new cases.
Meanwhile, several states including Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, and Punjab have reported a steep rise in the number of COVID-19 cases and have sounded a high alert across all adjoining districts and will also conduct thermal scanning of all those travelling from the high-risk state.
Maharashtra has also been witnessing an increasing number of coronavirus cases, forcing the state government to impose partial lockdown or restrictions in several districts and cities.
In Maharashtra, COVID-19 curbs and restrictions have been ordered in Pune, Nagpur, Pimpri Chinchwad, Nashik, Aurangabad, Thane, Navi Mumbai, Washim, Kalyan-Dombivli and Buldhana, whereas a week-long partial lockdown has been imposed in Amravati and Akola from February 22 to March 1. Yavatmal district administration has imposed a 10-day lockdown in the region from February 18 to February 28.
Maharashtra reported 6,971 new COVID-19 cases and 35 deaths in the last 24 hours. The total number of COVID-19 cases in the state has reached 21,00,884 with the addition of new cases. The data released by the state government on Sunday (February 21) showed that 19,94,947 people have recovered from coronavirus in Maharashtra, while the number of active cases stands at 52,956.
Meanwhile, active coronavirus cases in the country increased by 4421 in the last 24 hours, a spike of three%, marking the steepest increase since the end of November.
