Here's a Look at Recent Attacks on CRPF Personnel

New Delhi: Eleven Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel were killed on Monday in an encounter with Naxals in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district.

The encounter took place at around 12.25 pm between the Burkapal-Chintagufa area in south Bastar area of the state. There have been several instances in the recent past when CRPF personnel, especially those stationed in Chattisgarh area, have come under attack.

Here’s a list of recent attacks on CRPF personnel:

March 11, 2017: Naxalites laid a deadly ambush and killed 12 jawans of the CRPFcrpf in the restive Sukma district.

June 19, 2016: At least 10 paramilitary commandos were killed and five injured in a Maoist attack in Bihar’s Aurangabad district.

May 17, 2016: Naxals attacked a CRPF camp in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh, killing one jawan.

March 31, 2016: Seven paramilitary soldiers were killed in a landmine blast in central Chhattisgarh.

March 4, 2016: Three CRPF men were killed and over a dozen injured after a gunfight between Naxals and the security forces in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district.

January 27, 2016: Five policemen and two civilians were killed in a Maoist attack in Jharkhand’s Palamu.

February 17, 2016: Two jawans were shot by Naxals, receiving minor injuries in Chattisgarh’s Maoist-hit Rajnandgaon district.
