Asked to Pay Rs 80 Toll Fee, TDP MP's Son Goes on Rampage

TV grab of Hindupur MP Nimmala Kristappa’s son, Ambarish.

New Delhi: The Centre has done away with the ‘lal batti’ culture, but the VVIP attitude and mindset still seems to exist in pockets of the political class.

In the latest such case, a TDP MP’s son was caught on CCTV camera, vandalising a toll booth at the Bagepalli Toll Plaza at the Andhra-Karnataka border. The reason — he was stopped and asked to pay the toll fee.

Hindupur MP Nimmala Kristappa’s son, Ambarish, was asked to pay a toll fee of Rs 80, but he refused, arguing that he had a ‘Member of Parliament’ sticker on his vehicle. The sticker, he claimed, exempted him from paying toll charges.

When the toll plaza employee told him he had to pay like everyone else, the MP’s son and those with him went on a rampage and broke the glass windows and computers at the toll booth. They even manhandled the employees.

The officials filed a complaint following which the police registered a case and were investigating the incident.
