Inter-state ISIS terror module busted in joint operation by Delhi Police, UP ATS; three suspects held​

New Delhi: In a major breakthrough, Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorist Squad  (ATS) on Thursday arrested at least three suspected terrorists believed to be associated with the global terror outfit, the Islamic State.

According to reports, those arrested are believed to be part of an ISIS module that was looking for potential recruits in Bihar, UP, Rajasthan and Maharashtra.

The Uttar Pradesh ATS, with the help of police teams from six states, arrested these three suspected ISIS terrorists from Jalandhar in Punjab, Mumbai and Bijnor in Uttar Pradesh. 

The Uttar Pradesh ATS had earlier received information that a group is being readied for terror activities.

“Special Cell of Delhi Police, CI cell of Andhra, Maharashtra ATS, Punjab and Bihar Police were involved in the operation,” UP ATS spokesperson said.

Three persons were arrested on charges of hatching terror conspiracies, he added.

The joint operation by police teams in six states has busted an inter-state ISIS terror module, reports said.

Meanwhile, more raids are being conducted at various places in Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Punjab, Andhra Pradesh and Bihar following inputs about suspected ISIS terror activities.

Six more people have been detained by the security forces in this connection.

Those arrested will be  grilled by the UP STF officials for potential leads after which they will be produced in a Lucknow court.
