FIR filed against three Tamil Nadu Ministers after complaint from I-T department

The I-T officials complained against them for ‘violence’ during raids at the Health Minister’s residence.

Chennai city police has registered a case against three Tamil Nadu Ministers and a Delhi Special representative following a complaint from the I-T Department. The complaint was in regard to ‘violence’ exhibited against I-T officials when raids were conducted in the residence of Health Minister Vijaya Baskar.

An FIR has been filed against Ministers Kadambur Raja, Udumalai Radhakrishnan, Kamaraj and Special representative Thalaivai Sundaram. The leaders have been booked under sections 183, 186, 189 and 448 of the Companies Act. They have been accused of resisting the taking of property by lawful authority of a public servant, and of criminal intimidation.

The Income Tax department on Wednesday reportedly asked the Chennai Police to register a criminal case against the three Ministers, for allegedly obstructing its raids at state Health Minister C Vijaya Baskar’s residence. They submitted a complaint to City Police Commissioner Karan Singha who later forwarded it to Additional Commissioner of Police (south zone) K Shankar.

The AIADMK leaders had reportedly created a ruckus outside Health Minister Vijay Bhaskar’s residence on April 7, when I-T raids were underway. They along with party workers, banged on the gates of the house, demanding that they be allowed in. When asked if he had permission to enter, Thalaivai Sundaram had then told The News Minute that he did despite the police blocking his entry.

Sources in the I-T department told The News Minute that they had recovered Rs 5 crore from the Health Minister’s personal assistant and Rs 25 lakh from his Pudhukottai residence.
