Srinagar: At least 16 Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) have stolen and 33 others damaged by protestors in the just concluded bypolls for the Srinagar parliamentary constituency.

Footage accessed by CNN-News18 show angry protesters destroying EVMs in Budgam district after storming a polling station.

The incident occurred on April 9th while polling was underway.

The extent of the damage became apparent only later once the Chief Electoral Officer conducted a census of EVMs after polling.

Eight people were killed and several others injured after protestors clashed with security forces while trying to stop polling in several booths.
